4-Stroke Winterization

Step 1: Clean & Prep

  • Thoroughly wash watercraft exterior
  • Fill fuel tank with fresh gas and stabilize fuel with BG Supercharge II
  • Run the watercraft for 10-15 minutes to run the stabilized fuel through the entire fuel system, flush out any leftover lake water, and warm up the oil for extraction
  • Check charging system while watercraft is running

Step 2: Change oil and filter and check over

  • Change oil and filter
  • Check over and make a list of any issues

Step 3: Freeze Proof (for outside storage or storage areas that are not climate controlled)

  • Flush cooling and exhaust system with RV antifreeze

Step 4: Compression inspection and cylinder fogging

  • Check and record all cylinder compression readings
  • Fog all cylinders with fogging oil

Step 5: Battery service and care

  • Remove battery, if standard top off fluids. Charge and test battery
  • Clean and grease battery posts and terminals
  • Store battery off the ground in a climate controlled area, leave connected to a tender or use a charger 1-2 times per month

Step 6: Drying and final storage prep

  • Dry inside and outside of watercraft. Use compressed air, rags, vacuum
  • Open hull drain ports and drain all water
  • Cover watercraft

2-Stroke Winterization

Step 1: Clean & Prep

  • Thoroughly wash watercraft exterior
  • Fill fuel tank with fresh gas and stabilize fuel with BG Supercharge II
  • Run watercraft for approx. 10 minutes to run stabilized fuel through the entire fuel system and to flush out any leftover lake water
  • Check charging system while watercraft is running

Step 2: Check over

  • Check over and make a list of any issues
  • Top off 2-stroke oil tank

Step 3: Freeze Proof (for outside storage or storage areas that are not climate controlled)

  • Flush cooling and exhaust system with RV antifreeze
  • Disconnect cylinder cooling hoses and fill with RV antifreeze

Step 4: Compression inspection and engine fogging

  • Start and run watercraft at 1/4 throttle and fog bottom end of engine with fogging oil through the intake
  • Remove spark plugs check and record compression readings
  • Fog all cylinders with fogging oil

Step 5: Battery service and care

  • Remove battery, if standard top off fluids. Charge and test battery
  • Clean and grease battery posts and terminals
  • Store battery off the ground in a climate controlled area, leave connected to a tender or use a charger 1-2 times per month.
